![]() Mercane avoid combat and generally travel with bodyguards. ![]() They have 7 HD and 52 hp, and are Outsiders, and can communicate telepathically. I presume they're here for the purposes of extraplanar trade, to explain who's buying and selling all these million-gp magic items from/to the PCs. ![]() Mercane are a mere CR 5, making them a curious choice for the book that starts at level 21. Curiously, their description states that "A mercane stands out in the most crowded bazaar." Mercane are Always Lawful Neutral, and are avowedly impartial they will trade with demons and angels equally, but refuse to take sides in conflicts. They dress in "voluminous robes" and move with "slow, languid grace." Mercane stand 12' tall and have bright blue skin their long fingers have one extra joint compared with humans. I presume their name was changed to avoid confusion with "arcane magic." Mercane are "extraplanar merchants" who travel between worlds and sell whatever's valuable to whoever's buying. Note: the mercane have no picture in my copy of the ELH I forget exactly where the above image comes from.įans of Spelljammer may remember the mercane from AD&D2, where they were known as the arcane.
